The Initiative

Ride to Connect (RTC) is a cycling fundraiser, awareness, and advocacy initiative with the mission of reducing social isolation and loneliness in Canadian seniors. We have partnered with Connected Canadians and The Bruyère Foundation to help Canadian seniors access the online world, connect with their loved ones, and enhance their mental and physical wellbeing. We will be raising funds to distribute electronic tablets to underserved senior groups across Canada and provide them technological training and support through a one-on-one mentorship program.

As a cycling community of over 400 cyclists, we aim to collectively cycle 500,000 km this summer to demonstrate that a unified community can overcome any amount of distance.

The Ride

The Ride to Connect Club is an online platform which unites the community through the support and encouragement of fellow riders as we ride towards our goal.

We strive to advocate for the empowerment and autonomy of Canadian seniors. Through teamwork and a united voice, we hope to inspire Canadian government officials and corporations to join the effort to improve the health and well-being of our Canadian elderly through technology.

The Team

Ride to Connect was started by a group of University of Ottawa medical students wishing to build a community promoting both physical activity and the importance of senior autonomy.

We hope that the community will be a fun and inclusive experience for all Canadians hoping to remain physically active while advocating for an important cause.

Supporters

Community support is essential in promoting the cause. We are hoping to inspire Canadian politicians, health care providers, businesses, and the general public to join us in empowering our elderly population with the skills and tools necessary to access the online world.
